Teaching-Learning of Anatomy for Physical Education Students at a Private Institution
Main Article Content
Abstract
Human Anatomy plays a central role in the education of students in health-related fields, yet it still lacks specific investigations within Physical Education programs. This study aimed to investigate the teaching-learning process of the Human Anatomy I course in a bachelor's degree program in Physical Education offered by a private institution located in the Brazilian semiarid region. The sample consisted of 22 students, of whom 75% achieved scores ≥7.0 in the practical assessment, while 78% scored <7.0 in theoretical evaluations. Most participants reported difficulties in reviewing content outside the classroom (78%) and rated the teaching methodology as "regular" (43%). Additionally, 47% suggested increasing the number of practical activities to improve learning. Furthermore, 82% reported difficulties with anatomical terminology, and 73% experienced moderate physical fatigue during classes. Practical sessions were identified as the main facilitator of learning, whereas the methodology was considered the main barrier. It is concluded that traditional approaches may no longer fully meet the demands of modern education, making it essential to reform teaching strategies that emphasize practice and promote greater student engagement.
