Influence of posture on jump power, changes of direction and sprint speed in youth soccer players
Main Article Content
Abstract
In soccer practice, proper postural control can enhance athletic performance, technical conditions, and reduce injury risks. This study aimed to determine the influence of posture on power performance, changes of direction, and sprint speed in youth soccer players in Popayán. A descriptive study was conducted with 54 youth soccer players, whose posture was evaluated using a 3D photogrammetric system, along with tests to measure changes of direction (COD), vertical jump, and sprint speed over 10 and 20 meters, using mobile applications. Significant relationships were found between the right Q angle and jump height, left leg length and average speed in COD, pelvic obliquity and the 20-meter test (p<0.05). Additionally, calcaneal varus was associated with performance in the 10- and 20- meter sprint tests. Players with previous injuries took an average of 10 seconds longer in the 10-meter sprint. In conclusion, postural parameters, such as knee Q angle, pelvis, and calcaneal alignment, are correlated with performance in sprinting, COD, and vertical jump tests, suggesting the implementation of postural analysis in youth football players.
