Abandono y permanencia en el rugby infantil en Argentina. Análisis pedagógico en una unión de rugby regional (2016-2024)

Resumen

El abandono de la práctica deportiva en edades infantiles constituye un fenómeno de relevancia pedagógica, social y deportiva, especialmente en deportes de equipo como el rugby. El presente estudio analiza los factores asociados a la continuidad y el abandono en el rugby infantil en Argentina, con atención a clubes de una unión de rugby regional. Se adopta un enfoque descriptivo–interpretativo y se consideran niños y niñas de 6 a 13 años, distribuidos en dos franjas etarias: 6-9 y 10-13 años. Los datos se recabaron mediante el análisis de 716 registros institucionales no publicados oficialmente y encuestas semiestructuradas abiertas a entrenadores e integrantes de las familias. Los resultados indican que el abandono temprano se vincula con experiencias pedagógicas negativas, baja percepción de competencia y climas motivacionales poco inclusivos. Entre los 6 y 9 años, el juego, la diversión y la exploración motriz son factores clave de permanencia. Entre los 10 y 13 años, la intensificación prematura de la técnica y los procesos selectivos aumentan el riesgo de abandono. Se concluye que la continuidad depende de la calidad pedagógica, la formación del entrenador y el apoyo institucional, incluyendo cuestiones de gestión y económicas.
