Problems in Sociology of Sport

Abstract

This article is an attempt to build, articulate and problematize the contributions and advances in research on social studies of sport and leisure, discussed within the working group on problems of the sociology of sport, held during the 9 § Argentinian and 4 § Latin American Physical Education and Science Congress. Holistic and comprehensive reading of various academic productions are called into question based on three problem areas, which structure this article: violence and its relation to the sporting phenomenon in contemporary social frameworks, social historical link between public policies and the way sports are organized between sporting events and social sciences. Highlighting, organizing and problematizing the arguments of the different investigations discussed is the way in which this article seeks to contribute to current discussions on social studies of sport and leisure
